| San Francisco Fleet Week 2009 by Ben Vincent |
Fleet Week comes to San Francisco once a year and this was my third chance to check it out. In fact, I’d been looking forward to it for quite some time because it’s a great chance to take some really cool photos. On Saturday we found a prime location at Aquatic Park with Kevin & Vivien from work. The weather was a little weird -- typical SF! The view over Alcatraz was beautiful but the Golden Gate was hidden in fog. The Patriot Jets weren’t put off and did there full display. However, the Blue Angels had other ideas; after 5 minutes they gave up and headed back to base! On Sunday the weather was even worse so I was a little hesitant to head over to Aquatic Park again. Fortunately, I found a note online saying they’d changed their routine and would definitely perform. So I biked down to Fisherman’s Wharf and found a great spot at the Hyde Street Pier on the steam boat Eureka. I wasn’t disappointed; despite a very white sky, I got some awesome photos: |
